Ruth brings a wealth of security experience to BIIAB and the Skills and Education Group family. Her impressive 42 year career has refined her expertise in loss prevention, security, and leadership, making her a valuable asset to the team.
Early Security Training:
Ruth’s passion for security began with her dedication to public service. Serving as a Special Constable naturally led her to enlist in the Military Police, where she pushed boundaries by joining the program’s first all-female squad. Ruth’s perseverance and resilience were evident as she started her training alongside 22 recruits, but only 12 graduated, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in a challenging environment.
Expertise in Loss Prevention:
Following her military service, Ruth translated her skills to the loss prevention sector. She excelled as a Loss Prevention Manager at major retail stores, specialising in internal investigations into cash and stock discrepancies. Her work led to investigations of over £1 million. Ruth’s experience is also gained from working with several awarding organisations as an EQA, moving on to the SIA (Security Industry Authority) as a Quality Manager and managing her own training company for security qualifications.
Ruth brings a clear vision to the organisation, prioritising public and industry protection through strategic training initiatives. Through her commitment to the public and security, Ruth focuses on improving processes and efficiency. One area under Ruth’s scrutiny is the Centre approval process, encouraging better collaboration between centres and the BIIAB team.
Ruth's got our backs, no question. She's loyal, hilarious, and always there to cheer us on. Since she joined things have become organised, efficient, fun, and supportive. We all live by her motto: 'As a team, we work together to support our Centres to achieve excellence.' Her knowledge is gold(sworthy), and she never lets us forget her biggest passion: seeing people progress especially her team!
At BIIAB, we prioritise the security of the public and industry through ongoing training initiatives. We’re constantly seeking ways to improve our processes and streamline efficiency. A prime example is our recent overhaul of the approval process. Previously, approvals were slowed by lengthy document reviews and hesitant centres. Recognising this inefficiency, we’ve implemented a separate approval form and revised the tutor approval process. We’re also actively working with GoReact to explore further improvements. This commitment to innovation ensures a smoother experience for everyone involved.
